Any couple that has been doing long distance is my kind of couple. It’s a lifestyle I have so much respect for because it ain’t easy! You know it’s a strong relationship when distance can’t stop you from being together. Lily & Ali are no exception and I felt an immediate bond with them when I learned their story!
Lily & Ali met in Savannah, GA in 2015 and shortly after, Lily moved to Miami. That’s where it all started…they have been doing long distance ever since! Ali used to drive long hours down to Miami just to sneak in a few hours with busy Lily who was doing her residency and working crazy hours! And now thanks to a great job opportunity for Ali they’ve been living on separate coasts for the past year (who wants to bet these two have some serious frequent flier miles built up!)
A few weekends ago Lily was visiting Ali and I had the wonderful pleasure of taking their engagement photos in beautiful San Diego! Ali picked out a great spot near Torrey Pines for the engagement session; it was quiet… only us, maybe one other person and the vast ocean views.
Lily looked incredible in her floor length red dress, it moved perfectly in the wind and created such a romantic look. We were blessed with an incredible sunset following multiple rainy and cloudy days in San Diego.
These two are saying goodbye to long distance SOON and are tying the knot next June!
Lily sent me the sweetest text the day following their session. She said her last night in San Diego they went back to Torrey Pines to watch their last San Diego sunset together and it was now such a special place for them. I LOVED hearing that. Engagement photos have the potential to be so much more than pictures for your save the dates. It’s a great memory of an evening you spent loving on each other and celebrating your upcoming wedding.
Planning a wedding is time consuming and can be stressful. Your engagement session gives you the opportunity to take a step back, spend quality time together and remember the WHOLE reason for the wedding is to spend the rest of your life with this human!
Believe it or not, it’s not uncommon for my couples to get a little emotional during their session. This was such a sweet moment…
I LOVE THIS PICTURE!
