This marks the FIFTH time I have photographed Nicole & Nate, starting years ago with their engagement session to their now beautiful family of four. It has been so fun to watch their relationship evolve (from engagement, to their wedding, adding in a fur child, maternity and now kids!) Nicole is an old friend of mine and I don’t think either of us would have thought back then that we would one day have babies the same age and grow to be good friends and like-minded Mamas. But here we are and I cherish our friendship, which of course makes photographing her family all the more fun!
I have been photographing in Mankato, Minnesota for years and years now and each year I make it a mission to try and find a new location to photograph at. I have my go-to places that are always clutch but when I have clients that come back to me year after year I want to make sure I can deliver them something unique and different. I was SO pleased with our location, a place I’ve driven by literally thousands of times but never pulled over to look around until now. The mosquitoes may have been horrible but the stars aligned with this beautiful location and the Hermer’s incredible outfit choices. It all came together perfectly!
After I sent Nicole her gallery, she text me one of the sweetest messages I think I’ve received as a photographer, I teared up instantly. I won’t share it all but I’ll share this: “I feel like the love poured through these images and that is a feeling I don’t ever want to forget looking back on this.” THAT feeling right there is everything. That’s what I love about photography. So, hire a photographer, book that session and get your family in front of a camera. Even if the outfits aren’t perfect, even if there are mosquitoes EVERYWHERE, you will be so glad you did!
