I have lived in San Diego, specifically the Pacific Beach neighborhood for over THREE years now and somehow Matt and Jocelyn’s engagement session was my first time photographing at the iconic Crystal Pier!
I was so excited when they suggested shooting their engagement photos there! Maybe it’s the Minnesota girl in me that never gets tired of the ocean but I love shooting at the beach. Matt and Jocelyn also live in Pacific Beach and have spent many evenings walking the pier and enjoying the laid back vibe of the boardwalk. I think this location matched their personalities perfectly!
Not only do Matt and Jocelyn live in Pacific Beach…they live next door to Alex and I! I’m not going to lie, I couldn’t believe that our awesome neighbors got engaged and were looking for a wedding photographer…how did I get this lucky?! I am so grateful!!
We had a beautiful evening for their photos; it was slightly cloudy with the sun just peeking through the clouds. The sunset was just magical that night and the beach was quite and calm.
I really loved photographing these two! You can just feel how good they are together; they easily make each other smile and have a playful and fun quality about them that makes me think they don’t take life too seriously. If you ever get a minute with these two you need to ask them about their story from dating in high school, to going separate ways and eventually finding their way back to each other. I was completely enthralled the first time I sat down with them and heard their story!
I’m SO fortunate to have these two as neighbors and clients! I can’t wait for their wedding in TWO WEEKS!
Crystal Pier is normally pretty packed with people in the summer but this evening we had little interruptions. I could hang out at the pier for hours watching the surfers catch the waves and feeling the pier sway!
I loved how casual and relaxed the couple seemed in the photos. You must really make people feel comfortable…or did you get them drunk? Either way good stuff 🙂
