Baylea & Jake were married at Chankaska Creek Winery on an unseasonably warm September day in Mankato, Minnesota. After a decade of dating, the day had arrived for them to say I do!! They say the memory of their first interaction is a bit hazy as it was almost 10 years ago in high school, but one thing they agree on is they are sure grateful it happened!
The day started at the Hilton Inn in downtown Mankato where the ladies got ready for the day with hair and makeup. One of the highlights of the day for me was Baylea stepping into her dress with the assistance of her matron of honor Sarah. The tears and emotion from the two of them was so dang sweet! (Love you, two!)
Baylea & Jake shared their first look on the path behind the winery, with beautiful willow trees draped around them! We headed into portraits right after and Chankaska has no shortage of options for beautiful scenery! I love photographing these two, the way they interact and look at each other is so genuine. It doesn’t hurt that Baylea also has the most beautiful smile and Jake tends to bring that out in her often!
A few words from Baylea about Jake: “Jake always knows how to make me smile. Even at moments in which I don’t want to smile, he knows exactly what to say to get me to crack. He knows how to bring me up when I’m down and knows how to make me gut laugh at something at the drop of a hat.”
A few words from Jake about Baylea: “Baylea is thoughtful. She remembers things that I tell her that I don’t remember saying. For example, if I mention that I like a shirt when we are walking by a store in the mall, she will get it for me a couple months later. Just something small I said in passing, expecting nothing to come from it, but she remembers those things and enjoys making me and everyone else happy. She also truly cares for her family and friends and will go out of her way to help anyone.”
Baylea & Jake’s wedding party looked incredible! The maids wore floor length periwinkle dresses complimented by green and white bouquets. My favorite detail was the dangling pendent the ladies with low back dresses wore. It was such a small and beautiful detail!
The men looked super classy in dark blue suits and brown shoes. Jake also wins the award for best shoes of 2017! (or ever)
Their ceremony was nestled back in the woods at Chankaska Creek Ranch and Winery, creating an intimate environment for their vows. They chose to write their own vows and I don’t think there was a dry eye in the vicinity!
The reception was held at the Mankato Brewery and it was the perfect space for everyone to relax, grab a beer and have a good time! They really wanted their wedding to be fun, relaxed and filled with tons of laughter, nothing too stuffy! I think the brewery was the perfect space to foster that environment! Each table was covered in brown paper and supplied with crayons for guests to have fun and doodle, just like it’s done at one of their favorite restaurants, Dino’s!
And everyone danced the night away!!
